The USA Network Enterprise Center (NEC) is the new name for what was formerly known as "The Directorate of Information Management (DOIM)." Headquarters Department of Army approved the change with an effective date of Oct. 1, 2009. The NEC at each installation will function as part of the larger Global Network Enterprise while remaining responsive to their customer needs.

 


U.S. Army Signal Network Enterprise Center - Fort Lee

The Network Enterprise Center- Fort Lee (NEC-Lee) is the focal point for all information management requirements for the installation. NEC-Lee provides support for a variety of information technology services to the Fort Lee community.

NEC-Lee provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) common-user policies, standards, architectures, programs, plans and budgets for communications, information assurance, and automations support to the installation under the Army’s Transformation of Installation Management (TIM) concept. The diversity of services provided incorporates the talents of a multi-talented workforce of civilian and military personnel. In an ever changing, dynamic information technology era, NEC-Lee is constantly assessing, developing, supporting, acquiring, refining, and providing a wide array of services.

Our mission is to provide timely and quality world class support to service members and civilians by implementing and executing effective and efficient C4IM services and support.

The Signal Network Enterprise Center-Lee is responsible for and supports all aspects of information management here at Fort Lee, Virginia.

NEC-Lee coordinates and directs C4IM serices for the command to include automation, telecommunications, and information assurance.The NEC's goal is to provide the best quality for products or services rendered.

NEC SERVICES


The NEC offers serices in the areas of Communications, Information Technology, and Information Assurance.

The NEC is charged with providing fundamental support in the areas of:

  1. Telephone Service
  2. Electronic Mail
  3. Local Area Networking (LAN) connectivity
  4. Wide Area Networking (WAN) interconnectivity
  5. Information Assurance
  6. LAN/WAN/Platform access management
  7. Network Operating System management and maintenance
  8. Platform Support Services
  9. Land Mobile Radio (LMR) support and services
  10. MILCON IT planning and integration services

In addition, the NEC maintains expertise sufficient to support the customers on campus with extended IM/IT services as negotiated on a reimbursable basis.

 


Information Assurance

Information assurance (IA) is the practice of managing information-related risks. IA protects and defends information and information systems by ensuring confidentiality, integrity, authentication, availability, and non-repudiation. These goals are relevant whether the information are in storage, processing, or transit, and whether threatened by malice or accident. IA is the process of ensuring that authorized users have access to authorized information at the authorized time.
