BRAC Update

Bottom Line Up Front! All BRAC directed construction projects are on track and on budget.

Construction Contracts for $1.3Billion are currently awarded, approximately $400 Million remains to be awarded in the Third Quarter, Fiscal Year 2010. More than a dozen new facilities are complete and fully operational; The Sustainment Center of Excellence Headquarters building was occupied in January, 2009, the Army Logistics University Educational building and Simulation Center both became operational in June of ’09 and the Ordnance School began housing and training Soldiers on Fort Lee in mid-September, 2009 when they were given control of Rozier Hall (TSED), new barracks and headquarters buildings, the North Range complex and parts of Central Campus. Thirty Six projects totaling more than one billion dollars have been awarded since mid-2007. The new facilities house and train the "Log Warriors" of the future and serve as Headquarters for the Army’s Combined Arms Support Command as well as the Ordnance, Quartermaster and Transportation Centers and Schools.

The consolidation of Combat Service Support training and doctrine development at a single installation promotes training effectiveness and functional efficiencies. The moves advance the Maneuver Support Center (MANSCEN) concept by consolidating functionally related branch centers and schools. It enhances military value, supports the Army’s Force Structure Plan, and maintains sufficient surge capability to address unforeseen requirements. It improves training capabilities while eliminating excess capacity at institutional training installations and it provides the same or better level of service at a reduced cost.
